Good morning!
I received a Vista Business copy from the FH and installed it in parallel to XP.
I used Partition Magic to reduce the size of the two previously existing partitions and thus created a third one for Vista.
After installing Vista, the boot manager that should allow you to select the operating system did not appear. Vista starts fine. Under Disk Management, the original XP partition is listed as the primary partition, but no drive letter is assigned to it. The newly created Vista partition and the second one that existed before the installation are preserved.
The attempt to repair the boot manager with the Vista CD failed because only Vista was listed.
When starting with the XP CD, both operating systems could be displayed (Vista on C: \, XP on F: \).
Unfortunately, the attempt to add XP to the Vista boot manager also failed. After I had followed all the instructions in the tip, the boot manager appeared after a restart. But when choosing 'Previous Windows Installation', 'Error starting Windows' appeared.
Who can help me to get the XP running again or at least to get access to the files?
