As is known under Windows, not all functions are switched on immediately. In Windows XP it was called Add or remove Windows components. in vista, Switch Windows functions on or off.
The new choice of words describes it correctly, under Windows XP the components are uninstalled from the hard disk. With Windows Vista the components remain installed, you just switch them on or off.
This tip will especially please those who want to use Telnet with Vista. Vista does not give the error message that Telnet is turned off or disabled, it simply claims that Telnet is not spelled correctly or was not found.
Switch Windows functions on or off
Start> Control Panel> Programs> Programs and Features> Turn Windows functions on or off
With the classic view under Vista you save a step:
Start> Control Panel> Programs and Features> Turn Windows functions on or off
Here you can switch various Windows functions on or off, for example games, Telnet and Windows Fax.
In the Windows> System32 folder you can also find the
start directly.
