There are still many users who stick to Windows Explorer as the standard file manager. Unfortunately, this file manager makes it very cumbersome to move or copy files and folders.

The aim of this tip is to make this work easier with Windows Explorer.

Again, an intervention in the Windows registry is necessary. This time we don't tinker around with it ourselves, but rather work with a script that does the work for us.

Opens any text editor. I myself took (yes, I have already tried the tip) Windows own text editor Notepad.

It can be found under Start> All Programs> Accessories> Notepad

Enter the following text here:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ AllFilesystemObjects \ shellex \ ContextMenuHandlers]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Copy to Folder]

@="{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Move to folder]

@="{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"

You can of course also use my text above Copy and pasta paste (do not copy the text from the picture!).
You then save this file in any folder as a file with the extension reg .
For example Move.reg
Now you double click on this file.
When this security question appears

move1.jpg

You confirm with ok
That's it.
If you now open Windows Explorer, you will have something as shown in the picture

move2.jpg

two additional options:

1. Copy to folder ...

2. Move to folder
The functions are self-explanatory. Simply select the desired folder/or file by right-clicking and you can then move the folder or file to the desired destination.

Have fun trying.

Note:
Our moderator Magic Mike was also able to apply this tip under the Windows XP operating system. Just the line Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 through the line regedit4 replace.
Thanks Magic Mike
