The following error messages may appear when installing Microsoft Office programs under Windows XP:
- Windows files must be installed for the installation to continue.
- Now insert the Windows XP Professional CD.
This behavior occurs if you want to install MS Office from a local hard drive instead of the CD,
For example, if you have copied the contents of the Office CD onto the hard drive that contains the source files.
The setup program in Office tries to install system files that are protected by Windows File Protection.
WindowsXP only accepts the signed versions of these files contained in the Windows XP delivery media.
You can remedy this by installing the MS Office programs from the CD.
