Remove Messenger

The messenger is started automatically each time the system is started. Those who do not need it are quickly annoyed because it
apparently there is no way to uninstall it. But there is a back door.

How do I uninstall Messenger?

Find the file C: \ Windows \ Inf \ sysoc.inf (Adapt path if necessary)

Sysoc.inf Open the section with a text editor [Components] search.

There is the line msmsgs = msgrocm.dll, OcEntry, msmsgs.inf, hide, 7

The entry hide remove. The commas must be retained.

The line should now look like this msmsgs = msgrocm.dll, OcEntry, msmsgs.inf ,, 7

Save the file.

With immediate effect and without restarting, the messenger is now in the control panel under
Software \ Windows Components available for uninstallation

The same can be done with other programs, which are also hidden by a hide entry.
For example terminal server, auto update, wordpad and pinball.

Alternatively, you can remove the messenger by:

Start >> run

RunDll32 advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection% windir% \ INF \ msmsgs.inf, BLC.Remove
