With FRITZ!App Media, smartphones now have access to multimedia data from hard drives or computers when they are connected to the FRITZ!Box* are connected.

Smartphones are increasingly becoming part of the home network. With the new FRITZ!App Media, Android smartphones have access to data in the network. This means that music, photos and films that are on an external hard drive or computer can be displayed and listened to on the smartphone. The media content is provided by so-called UPnP media servers (Universal Plug and Play), such as FRITZ!Box* or the Windows 7 operating system.

FRITZ! App Media: Smartphone becomes a remote control in the home network

Via WiFi via the FRITZ!Box* connected, the Android smartphone with FRITZ!App Media becomes a remote control in the home network: the digital music collection from the entire home network can be easily and conveniently selected using the smartphone. If a television or stereo system is part of the home network, the smartphone selects the desired device for playback. This makes it easy to listen to music that is on one FRITZ!Box* connected hard drive or PC can be heard on the television or stereo system. The network capability of devices is characterized by the term “Digital Living Network Alliance” (DLNA) - a standard that enables the exchange of data between computers, consumer electronics, mobile communications and other electronic devices in the network. If the existing music system is not network-capable, the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater N/G will serve you well. With its audio interface, the repeater transfers digital music to the stereo system.
