FRITZ! Laboratory for the FRITZ!Box* 7390 and 7270. These new laboratory versions give interested users an insight into the current state of development. The focus is on improvements for the integration of mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets into the FRITZ!Box home network. This is what the new FRITZ! Mobile versions of the FRITZ!Box user interface and the network storage overview tailored to smartphones. When making phone calls with a smartphone via WiFi, the quality of phone calls is now significantly increased through voice prioritization. To match this, the laboratory version of FRITZ!App Fon has also been newly made available. The new laboratory for the FRITZ!Box* 7390 and 7270 are now available for download. The laboratory version of FRITZ!App Fon is available free of charge in the Android Market; a download link can also be found at www.avm.de/fritzapp.

Mobile version of the FRITZ! Box user interface for smartphones and tablets

With the FRITZ! Laboratory for the FRITZ!Box* 7390, the FRITZ!Box user interface (fritz.box) and network storage overview (fritz.nas) are available as an optimized version for the smartphone. This allows users to, for example, view the call list, the phone book, the current connection status or the network device overview FRITZ!Box* can also be accessed while on the go. FRITZ!NAS is also available as a mobile version for smartphones. FRITZ!NAS is an overview of the FRITZ!Box* connected network storage. With the new laboratory version, the data stored there can now also be conveniently searched and managed on a smartphone.

New FRITZ! Laboratory offers WLAN optimization

The requirements for WLAN are constantly increasing: until recently it was mainly desktop computers or notebooks that were connected to each other in the home network, but now more and more devices, such as internet-capable televisions, smartphones, tablets or game consoles, are also part of the network. The variety of network devices and the often simultaneous use in the home network place new demands on the performance of the WLAN connection. The communications center in the wireless network is the FRITZ!Box. That's why AVM attaches great importance to permanently improving WLAN performance when developing products. The focus of Wi-Fi optimization is on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. Data prioritization ensures that conversations with the smartphone via WLAN are possible in the highest voice quality, even when the home network is busy. On the telephone side, this is supported by the new laboratory version of FRITZ!App Fon for iPhone and Android smartphones. Overall, the FRITZ! Laboratory for the FRITZ!Box* a variety of optimizations in data throughput and range. This ensures that all clients are covered even during intensive WLAN use at the same time.

Other new features and downloads

The new FRITZ! Laboratory gives interested users insight into the current development status of the FRITZ!Box* and the opportunity to try out new functions before the official firmware release. This includes, for example, increased data throughput when connected to the Internet via LAN1. An optional automatic notification to AVM about unexpected system states has also been included as a contribution to quality improvement and error corrections. The FRITZ!
