EasyBCD bietet eine Grafische Oberfläche für "bcdedit.exe".
Unter der EasyBCD- Oberfläche kann komfortabel das Windows-7 und Vista-Bootmenü editiert, konfiguriert, gesichert und wiederhergestellt werden.

Die boot.ini, wie aus Windows XP bekannt, existiert unter Windows 7 und Windows Vista nicht mehr.
Sie wurde ersetzt durch das mächtige Kommandozeilentool "bcdedit.exe".
Da es nicht jedermanns Sache ist auf der Kommandozeile zu arbeiten, wurde das Tool EasyBCD entwickelt.

EasyBCD bietet eine Grafische Oberfläche für "bcdedit.exe".
Unter dieser Oberfläche kann komfortabel das Win7/Vista-Bootmenü editiert werden. 
So ist es möglich  z.B. Einträge umzubenennen, hinzuzufügen oder das Standardbetriebssystem zu ändern.
Darüberhinaus kann der Bootloader mit der Funktion BCD Backup/Repair gesichert oder wiederhergestellt werden.

Da ein Tool, dass so tief in das System eingreift, nicht ohne Risiko ist, sollte nach der dem Download und der Installation zunächst über den Menüpunkt “File > Check for Updates” geprüft werden ob eine aktuellere Version zur Verfügung steht.
